RE-THINK. RE-USE. RE-INVENT Jen Roder has worked over the past seven years as a professional carpenter and woodworker. In both her jewllery and working projects, Jen's interest in re-usable objects has been a re-occurring theme. Her current use of bottle caps in jewellery was inspired by her interest of common symbols that have been injected into the mainstream advertising. She found that by removing the symbol from the context of an every day bottle cap, the meaning is then transformed into a personal icon to be celebrated by the individual.   ****MINNA AAPARYTI***** Cherish your most treasured memories – place them in handmade books and albums made with loving attention to every little detail. Wow, it has been a long time since my last post. Loads of stuff going on and this post will be brief also. But I am so excited about my new pieces that I just had to share. The colours of my Myan looking necklace is just stunning. And the simplicity of my hearts really make a great statement. So, please enjoy and I hope to be back soon.

Thinking Spring even though there is loads of snow coming down. Think Spring!! It will be here sooner than you know it. Of course for some, like me, not soon enough. The pretty coloured pendants are frosted acryllic with various images. I love the chandelleir, something a little out of the ordinary. The copper piece is hand cut from sheet metal and then stamped. I then gave it an old world look by adding patina to the finish. All of these pendants hang from leather cords. Will be finishing more so be sure to check back.Also, if the weather breaks and lets everyone get out of the house, Wydinya will be showing her work at Fringe Hair Salon, this weekend. feb,13th. So if you are in the neighbourhood please be sure to stop by. There will be light bites and wine. It is free to the public. Okay, this winter is a doozy. Are we ready for yet another snow storm. By the sounds of it, this will be the second biggest snow storm I have experienced in my time here in the States. And it will be my sons second biggest also.
Wow. I thought we were in the home stretch. I have my Spring colours in the store. New facelift. New colours. New pieces. I am so excited about the new look and can't wait to see the other stores who did the same this week. Heading over there now before the bulk of the snow hits. Does anyone know what time that is anyway. I keep hearing different times. Here are a few Pictures I took yesterday. Will put in store this weekend.         This ring reminds me of a lovely gentleman I met one Summer in Cape May while he was vacationing. And then again he found me at the Kimmel center in Philadelphia. He liked the ring so much that when he saw me he was happy that he found me and bought yet another one. So, in honour of Shakespeare, yes, Shakespeare, I am calling this line, "Shakespeare". Shop owners are all excited about their new merchandise. I can't wait to see what everyone has to offer. I know, I know, the snow is on the ground how can anyone be thinking about the Spring, or even Summer no less. But I for one am ready. I want to see colour, flowers and sun. Don't you?? Each time I am there adding my my own work I always have to take a gander at everyone elses new displays and items. It is just as exciting for me to go there and fix up my shop as well as placing things on my wish list. I am sure once you take a walk through you will understand what I am going on about. Wishing everyone prosperity and health for 2010. Looking forward to a great year of making and sharing with everyone. Now that the celebration is over it is time to get to work. The applications are coming in and hope to be selling at a market near you. Getting excited about the new line, can't wait to complete.

Road trip. Taking another day off from the studio and heading to the beautiful state of New York to visit the cousins. Oh, can't foget the new pup. Satchmo is going to have a blast getting to visit his younger cousin and running in the vast back yard. Perhaps a little hiking to tire the dogs out. And all the kids of course.
Will be looking for inspiration for my new line that will be coming up soon. Keep posted. It is slow going but I will get there. Well, time to head out. The boys are ready. I still need to wrapt things up.. signing off for now. Cheers. Wydinya BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!!!! IT'S A WINTER WONDERLAND OUT HERE ON THE EAST COAST. THIS WAS TAKEN A FEW HOURS AGO ON THE THE BOARD WALK IN OCEAN CITY, NEW JERSEY. YES, IT EVEN SNOWS AT THE BEACH. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, THEY EVEN PLOUGH THE BOARDWALK. CRAZY I TELL YOU. WELL, NOT MUCH GETTING MADE TODAY. JUST WATCHING THE SNOW FALL AND TRYING TO AVOID THE PLOUGH TRUCKS ON THE WAY TO GET OUR SUPPLY OF MILK AND TIM TAM'S. JUST IN CASE WE DO GET SNOWED IN. YOU NEVER HAVE TOO MANY TIM TAM'S IN THE CUPBOARD. POWER OUTAGE ON THE ISLAND. FLOODING ON THE STREETS. THOUGHT FOR SURE WE WERE GOING TO HAVE TO HEAD FOR WARMER CLIMES TODAY. OR AT LEAST SOMEWHERE WHERE THE ELECTRIC WAS ON. BUT ALAS, THE ELECTRIC KICKED ON AFTER AN HOUR AND THE HOUSE STARTED HEATING UP AGAIN. SO TIME TO GET BACK IN THE KITCHEN AND MAKE SOME RIBS, BAKED BEANS AND OUR FAVOURITE, THANKS TO A DEAR FRIEND OF MINE, MISS BETH, CHIPS. SORRY JEAN CLAUDE, I KNOW YOU SHOWED HER THIS RECIPE. BUT SHE HAD IT DOWN. THEY ARE THE BOMB AND SERVED REGULARLY AT OUR TABLE. I HAVE EVEN EXPERIMENTED WITH SWEET POTATOES AND BOY ARE THEY DELICIOUS. THANKS MISS BETH!!! EVERYTIME I SLICE THE POTATOES I START THINKING OF HER. MISS HER. SNOW MEN ARE BEING MADE OUT FRONT NOW AND WE NEED A NOSE FOR OUR SNOWMAN. SO I MUST SIGN OFF. The winds are howling and the snow is falling. It's a winter wonderland outside right now. Looks like the whole weekend is going to be shovelling the side walks and trying to find a new place to go sledding. Time to dig out all the winter gear. Not sure if we can find the winter gear. That will be an adventure in itself.
Stuck inside may incite some new pieces. Finish up some pieces that I have been weaving. With all the holiday activities projects seem to be taking longer than usual. Hoping to finish and share soon.
